Petras Abukevičius memorial grange – museum was established commemorating 75 birth‘s anniversary of famous artist Petras Abukevičius.
Museum was founded in Utena region, Indubakiai village where film director and cameraman Petras Abukevičius was working during the last year of his life and was producing his last films about wolves. Exposition revealing famous artist‘s individuality and creative route was set up in this museum. Aviary of wolves is presented to visitors of this museum; they are guided through wolves track.
In 2003 was organized sculpture symposium in this grange. During this symposium were created wooden oeuvres on nature and ecology themes that decorated environment of the museum. This Sculpture Park will be expanded in the future.
In 2004 wolves’ protection exhibition - Wolves lodgment was started to set up. Visitors will have possibility to admire on wolves images and to listen to wolves „singing“.
Eventually museum was yclept as Wolf museum because probably there is no such person as Petras Abukevičius beside that so naturally belong together the love to nature, wolves and care of their surviving.
Mission of museum is to change stereotype negative attitudes towards wolves, to reveal the beauty and spirit of nature, to educate person‘s nationality and responsibility for his actions to nature.
